History
The Southern Clinical Neurological Society (SCNS) was formed
in January 1974. Since it's formation the SCNS has grown from
a membership of 34 active, associate, and honorary members
to 260 members in 2000. Active membership consists of all
neurologists regardless of domicile, associate membership
consists of members who have shown a dedicated interest in
the field of clinical neurology, and honorary membership consists
of members the SCNS has honored for service and dedication
to the SCNS.
At that time, the society adopted a constitution and by-laws;
the constitution states the purposes of the SCNS are
1. To further and promote the clinical study of neurology.
2. To consider and deal with common problems involved in
the practice of clinical neurology and to secure the cooperative
action in advancing common purposes of the members of the
association.
3. To perform cooperative research and scientific investigation
in the field of clinical neurology.
